Tides of Man - Create Couldn’t Keep Up
This is a great ambient / progressive band, but this is a long song Though it is still great, there’s not much to say except the music will surround you and there is a kick ass solo in this song.

A Day To Remember - You Should Have Killed Me When You Had The Chance
This is the original version of this song from their first album, And Their Name Was Treason. This song has been redone twice, once for the reissue of For Those Who Have Heart, and again for Old Record, which was Treason re-recorded, and a live version of this song was included in the re-issue of Homesick. And this is still the best version. A version of this song has been included in some form of every ADTR record, and they still play it live. So there’s gotta be something special about this song.

Chiodos - The Undertaker’s Thirst For Revenge Is Unquenchable (The Final Battle)
The heaviest song Chiodos has written and ever will. Sure the new album might have some heavy crap but it won’t be Chiodos, I will formally call post - Craig Owens Chiodos “Hiodos”. You better get that joke. Anyway listen to this epic song.

All Time Low - Remembering Sunday
While the MTV masses were caught up in “Dear Maria, Count Me In” and “Poppin’” this gem caught my attention. However this song is horribly underrated, which is a shame because a band only writes a song like this once in their career if they’re lucky, and maybe twice if they’re truly that talented. Starting off simple and blowing up into an epic duet between singer Alex Gaskarth and Automatic Loveletter’s Juliet Simms, you will get chills by the end of this song

Attack Attack! - Sexual Man Chocolate
The kings of crabcore are back, this time sporting keyboardist Caleb Shomo as their frontman. This song sounds NOTHING like what they did on the first album. Most noticeably the screaming, their debut Someday Came Suddenly featured Austin Carlile shriek (one of the highest screams I’ve ever heard), the new material features Shomo’s low ass growl, but it works well. Also gone is the overpowering presence of autotune and the 5000bpm (breakdown-per-minute) pace. I admit that I trashed talked this band after so many lineup changes saying that “they were falling apart”, now I’m eating my words.

Jonny Craig - Children of Divorce
Quite possibly the most beautiful song ever written, and definitely the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard, also my favorite song of 2009. This song is so simple, leaving little distraction from Craig’s angelic voice. The lyrics are incredibly heavy, there are a million meanings floating around, but they all involve Craig getting a girl pregnant and her betraying him. I can’t explain very much more so just read along:
And back to these cold shitty days in Portland.
Wishing I’d never come across your face.
Plagued by the memories of things unspoken.
Scared by thoughts of your father.
Made me look over the flaws of your nature.
Laying on your back became your only escape.
You feel so old, used, but not yet broken.
Enough to thing you have it all together.
I never planned to carry your burdens.
But this child was a mistake.
I knew from the moment i stepped off that plane,
we had no future.
How come your dreams are always so bitter?.
And who knows,
and maybe one day, she will know my name
You still return to the same skylines,
that leave you broken.
Cheap talks with even cheaper company.
Keeps the days turning into nights.
You lay awake crying cause your child,
carries my name while i regret ever making you apart of my life.
Sadly enough,
this song’s not to hurt you,
just to show the world that I’m free.
I knew from the moment i stepped off that plane,
we had no future.
How come your dreams are always so bitter?.
And who knows,
and maybe oneday, she will know my name
She’ll know.
She will know.

FACT - A Fact of Life
This Japanese hardcore act has only been to America a few times but they have some serious skill. This song is catchy as shit, fast paced, and just plain great. What I think weighs them down the most, both live and in the studio is their incredibly heavy accent. Other than that they’re good in the studio and amazing live.

Broadway - The Same Thing We Do Everynight Pinky (Ft. Craig Owens)
A song about what I like to describe as “the bright side of rock bottom”, tied to the song they did with Jonny Craig as their best song you need to hear this. This band emerged from touring with the Millionaires to launching a debut with the two best voices in the scene. Just listen to this shit and be amazed.

Scary Kids Scaring Kids - My Darkest Hour
Tonight is the last time that Dallas will ever see SKSK. They are currently on their farewell tour and to commemorate that I am featuring them today. Though their second album wasn’t as good as their first they were still an amazing band and I hope for the best for these boys futures. Goodbye Scary Kids Scaring Kids, I’m glad I got to see you once.

We Are Defiance - You’re Killin’ Me Smalls
I first heard of them when Of Mice & Men screamer Austin Carlile posted a bulletin saying he was on one of their songs. We Are Defiance is the new band from ex - Paddock Park frontman Brian Calzini. To be honest I’d never heard of Paddock Park but checked them out because I wanted to hear Austin. I was amazed, though this isn’t that song enjoy what I provide.

Jamie’s Elsewhere - They Said A Storm Was Coming
Okay this is just amazing, I never payed much attention to this band in the past, even though I had listened to them. But with this I can’t freakin wait for the new album. Sounds like Of Mice & Men meets Sleeping With Sirens. Epic.

Watchout! There’s Ghosts - Delivering an Oration
The new band from A Skylit Drive’s original singer, Jordan Blake. An electronic / screamo band in the vein of Breathe Carolina and I See Stars.

Simply a song about community, how the people you with at shows are your family. Fuck everyone else and what they have to say, as Jeremery Mckinnon from A Day to Remember screams (yeah, he’s on this song), “Your Time is up now, THIS IS OUR WORLD!”

Sleeping With Sirens - With Ears to See and Eyes to Hear
Sleeping with Sirens only has two songs up on their myspace, which I think is a sin. They are amazing, their frontman has such a high voice but amazingly it doesn’t get annoying, which is rare among singers with high voices (*cough* Jag *cough*, I still love ASD). I don’t have much to say tonight so just let the music speak for itself.

Of Mice & Men is the new band from former Attack Attack! screamer Austin Carlile. Listen to them once and you will realize, THEY KICK ASS! With an intensity that can only be surpassed at the live shows it’s guaranteed that they’re not gonna be another generic Rise band. Their self titled debut (due February 23) is one of my most anticipated releases of 2KX. Get on board or get the hell out the way, YDG!?

You’ve just heard “The Thespian”, an amazing song of off Alesana’s new album, The Emptiness. I’ve heard the album and it’s amazing, solid musically and a chilling story. I’ve been listening to this song in anticipation of the album and now that I’ve heard it I am in no way disappointed. It’s too early to tell but it might be the best album to come out all year.
