“Watching you walk out of my life does not make me bitter or cynical about love. But rather makes me realize that if I wanted so much to be with the wrong person how beautiful it will be when the right one comes along.”—(via imonlyahobo)
I saw Craig Owens live last November and before playing this song he told us the story behind it. It is about escapism. When he was kid his parents would fight A LOT. And in his own words, “As a kid you can’t put on your headphones and give the world the finger”. So whenever his parents fought, he would steal his moms car keys, head upstairs and climb the tree near his room down to his moms car. go in, and just listen to the rain hit the roof of his mom’s car. It was one of the few times he felt peace as a kid. So whenever it is a there is a gray cloud above my head I listen to “Umbrellas and Elephants”, my rainy day anthem.
