My LoK theory

Tarlokk is the true “final boss” of the series, he is exactly what Amon and the Equalists hate but he always seems to have the upper hand. I think he’s egging on the Equalists and orchestrating the war in Republic City. Why? For the glory.

It was shown that he could bloodbend from a distance and use it on multiple targets so he could go head on against Amon and a group of equalists and stop them in their tracks, he would call in the metal benders to restrain them and walk out with Amon in his hands as the hero that defeated the Equalists. With the praise of every bender in Republic City and the oppressive laws towards the non-benders that would probably get worse as a “preventive” measure Tarlokk would effectively become the absolute ruler of Republic City.
